Overview

Monero United is a privacy-centric marketplace purpose-built for users who refuse to surrender personal data. Operating exclusively through Tor and accepting only Monero, it strips away the surveillance infrastructure that defines conventional e-commerce. The platform facilitates peer-to-peer transactions for legal goods, with vendors subjected to vetting that has earned consistent praise from the privacy community. While still in beta as of 2026, Monero United has established itself as a functional alternative to centralized marketplaces that demand identity verification, phone numbers, or banking details.

The service earns an overall score of 8/10 from KYCnot.me, reflecting solid execution within a deliberately narrow scope. Its privacy score of 88/100 places it among the stronger options for anonymous commerce, though a trust score of 69/100 suggests room for maturation as the platform grows beyond its early-adopter phase.

Privacy & KYC

Monero United sits at KYC Level 1 — Anonymous, the most permissive tier on the privacy spectrum. Users create accounts without submitting real names, addresses, phone numbers, or government identification. The registration flow is identity-free by design, eliminating the automated flagging systems and "shotgun KYC" tactics that plague mainstream platforms.

  • No KYC requirements mentioned in policy or practice
  • Refund processes do not demand personal information disclosure
  • Tor onion address available for network-level anonymity
  • Account creation requires only an email address
  • No logging of IP addresses indicated in available documentation

The platform's reliance on Monero rather than Bitcoin or Lightning further hardens privacy. XMR's ring signatures and stealth addresses obscure transaction graphs by default, meaning even blockchain analysis cannot link purchases to identities. This composes well with Tor's traffic routing to create defense in depth against both corporate surveillance and state-level adversaries.

Supported assets & payments

Monero United is unapologetically monocoin: Monero only. There is no Bitcoin, no Lightning, no fiat on-ramp, and no stablecoin accommodation. This singular focus eliminates the compliance overhead and chain-analysis vulnerabilities that multi-asset platforms carry. Users must already hold XMR or acquire it through external no-KYC channels before participating.

The absence of fiat integration is a feature, not a limitation. By refusing bank transfers, credit cards, and payment processors, the marketplace sidesteps the financial surveillance net that typically triggers reporting obligations and identity verification. Transactions occur wallet-to-wallet through the platform's escrow system, with settlement finality governed by Monero's ten-minute block times.

Security & custody

Monero United operates on a non-custodial architecture. Users retain private key control over their funds rather than depositing into a centralized hot wallet. This removes the honeypot risk that has destroyed numerous custodial marketplaces through hacks or exit scams. The platform itself cannot seize, freeze, or lose user balances because it never holds them.

Trade security relies on an escrow mechanism where a trusted third party mediates disputes and releases funds only when both buyer and seller confirm satisfaction. While this introduces counterparty trust into the equation, it represents a standard and necessary compromise for remote peer-to-peer commerce. The open-source codebase allows community audit of escrow logic, though users should independently verify that deployed instances match published source.

Tor availability extends beyond mere accessibility. The onion service provides censorship resistance and protects both users and operators from location-based targeting. Combined with open-source licensing, this creates a transparency profile rare among marketplaces in the privacy space.

Who it's for — verdict

Monero United serves privacy absolutists who prioritize anonymity over convenience. It fits users comfortable with Tor navigation, XMR self-custody, and the friction of cryptocurrency-only settlement. The platform is not for casual shoppers seeking one-click Amazon alternatives or for individuals needing fiat-denominated price stability.

The beta status warrants measured expectations. Features may shift, vendor pools remain relatively small, and the codebase is still stabilizing. However, for those specifically seeking a no-KYC marketplace with genuine privacy engineering rather than marketing promises, Monero United delivers a credible option. Its vendor vetting and community reputation suggest operational seriousness that many anonymous platforms lack. Treat it as a specialized tool within a broader privacy stack, not a mass-market solution.

A very useful platform to buy legal goods with XMR. In order to use the platform a user has to create an account at the platform. Good vendors, only XMR accepted for payments.

just found monero united ,not bad platform with escrow built in , fairly new by the look of it , hopefully it will last longer than moneromarket , i wish you could see the new listings without having to log in , great to have some legal alternative to the illegal markets ,perhaps scrap the vendor bond or reduce it to something like $1 to encourage new sellers
