Review
EditorialOverview
xchange.me operates as a lean, privacy-centric instant exchange in a crowded market of increasingly surveilled trading platforms. The service strips away every friction point that typically exposes users to identity collection: there are no accounts to create, no email addresses to surrender, and no verification queues to endure. Users arrive, specify their swap, send funds, and receive coins from a clean, low-AML-risk inventory. The overall experience earns an 8/10 from our editorial team, reflecting solid execution of a narrow but valuable mission. Community feedback is predominantly positive, with repeat users highlighting responsive support and reliable settlement, though at least one Trustpilot complaint surfaced around a sub-$1,000 Bitcoin-to-ETH swap that stalled, incurred extra fees, and ultimately cost the user roughly $50—suggesting that low-fee transactions can occasionally hit network-congestion snags.
Privacy & KYC
xchange.me sits comfortably in KYC Tier L1 — Anonymous, the highest privacy classification we award. Access is pseudonymous by design; the platform neither requests nor stores personal data. No email is required, and the exchange does not log IP addresses, removing two of the most common de-anonymization vectors in the swapper space. Tor users are explicitly catered to with a dedicated onion mirror, a feature that signals genuine commitment rather than mere privacy theater. The privacy score of 80/100 is strong, though not perfect, and the trust score of 72/100 leaves room for improvement—particularly around transparency signals.
- No registration: Absolutely zero onboarding beyond a wallet address.
- Tor-native: Onion site available for users routing through the Tor network.
- No IP logging: Server infrastructure does not retain connection metadata.
- Canary concern: The warrant canary has stopped being updated, and the clearnet site has removed the canary link entirely (it remains visible on the onion domain). This is a yellow flag for a service that otherwise markets itself on radical transparency.
Supported assets & payments
The asset menu is deliberately narrow: Bitcoin and Monero are the supported coins. This is not a limitation for the target audience—privacy advocates who prioritize anonymity over altcoin breadth—but it does mean traders seeking Ethereum, stablecoins, or Layer-2 tokens must look elsewhere. The swap mechanism is fully automated and advertised as fast, with no manual approval steps. Fee structures are not published in granular detail in our source data, so we refrain from quoting specific percentages; users should verify real-time rates before confirming any transaction. The one public complaint about fee slippage on a small trade suggests that miners' fees and exchange margins can combine unfavorably during periods of network congestion, especially for low-value swaps.
Security & custody
xchange.me functions as a non-custodial swap service in practice: users send funds from their own wallets and receive output directly to an address they control. The platform never takes prolonged custody of user deposits, which minimizes counterparty exposure. Funds are sourced from reputable origins with consistently low AML risk scores, according to community reports—a critical detail for anyone worried about receiving tainted coins. The API system mentioned by experienced users suggests backend infrastructure is robust enough for programmatic access, though we have not independently audited it. The dormant warrant canary and its partial disappearance from the clearnet interface are the primary security-culture blemishes; an exchange that once proudly displayed transparency tooling should explain why that signal has lapsed.
Who it's for — verdict
xchange.me is purpose-built for privacy absolutists, Tor-regulars, and Monero enthusiasts who refuse to trade identity for convenience. It is equally suitable for Bitcoin holders seeking a quick, no-paperwork off-ramp or on-ramp without navigating centralized exchange compliance theater. Beginners will find the interface approachable—one novice user praised the navigation and support quality—but should still verify fee expectations before committing small amounts, given the reported edge-case slippage. The service is not for altcoin diversifiers, high-frequency traders needing deep liquidity, or users who demand fully transparent, actively maintained transparency artifacts. If your threat model includes avoiding KYC databases entirely, xchange.me remains one of the cleaner options in the 2026 no-KYC exchange landscape, provided you accept the trade-offs of limited coin choice and a trust score that reflects room for renewed transparency efforts.
xchange.me is a streamlined, no-registration exchange that lets users swap Bitcoin and Monero instantly without surrendering personal data, with full Tor accessibility for maximum anonymity.
- + True no-KYC, no-email, no-registration access
- + Dedicated Tor onion mirror for network-level anonymity
- + Clean coin provenance with low AML risk scores
- + Fast automated swaps without manual approval delays
- + Responsive customer support according to repeat users
- − Supported coins limited to Bitcoin and Monero only
- − Warrant canary no longer updated; clearnet link removed
- − At least one reported case of fee slippage on a small swap
- − Trust score (72/100) indicates transparency could improve

★ 5/5 · 6 ratingsVery first time for me with this exchange. After checking everything out the info about fees, minimum amount of order allowed, checking if pgp data checks out valid etc. I thought just give it a try. Was still a but suspicious to be honest since the minimum amount for swapping BTC into any other currency is 0.01 BTC as the lowest amount. Doesnt sound that much but it's still around 1000 dollars of course, but with a stellar 5 star rating up to now I thought just give it a try, if it works out I will have a great exchange for the future (without the hassle of p2p networks waiting for others to be online with then offering exactly the right amount of coins of the right type and then finding at a reasonable price as well). And indeed, everything worked like a charm! You have up to 4 hours to send in your payment, which is more than enoug in most cases. But mine arrived within 20 minutes no problem, and before I could click the button: "check current status" on the website, already received a notification from my wallet software that a new transaction had come in :) Also very fair fees, cannot complain about 3% for most type of coins with the very wide selection they offer, will be back for sure! (Only small thing I would mention to keep an eye on is the canary, it expired a week ago which is not that long of course but still when doing business on the darkweb its one of the very few things that give a big reassurance to any customers, so If there is a tip I could give to the guys running this service is to make sure it stays within a few days max. after the pointed out expire date in the canary)
Did a few trades. There was a slight issue selling Monero once, which has been solved by them fairly quickly. Being able to trade behind Tor is a massive plus. All in all I'm happy and will continue using their service.
Very good experience using this exchange. Funds arrive from reputable sources, always low AML score, and the website support is excellent. Good place to get some rare coins, they have the liquidity for all listed tickers.
Im new to crypto and support at xchange.me was super helpful. I found the site easy to navigate as a beginner. When I had questions, support was easy to reach, communicative, professional and knowledgeable.
The canary has no longer been updated. Plus the Canary link is no longer present on clearnet site, on the onion site it is present. https://xchange.me/canary.txt http://xmxmrjoqo63c5notr2ds2t3pdpsg4ysqqe6e6uu2pycecmjs4ekzpmyd.onion/canary.txt
I can confirm XChange is very private. I have used them through ToR and it really works. Also, their coins don't come problematic as some other swappers out there.
They have been honest with me all interactions I had with their team / support employees. I did not swap much with them, but I used to use their API system for a small project. They never let me down.
I used XChange in the past and they completed the swap without any issues. I have nothing to complain, and I've never seen someone have to KYC there. Just saying.
A user said on trustpilot: Bitcoin to ETH swap under $1000 failed, very slow, low fees caused delays, ended up paying extra and lost about $50 in fees.
